dc.description.abstract This article analyzes the journalism of Alash figures and provides an assessment of democratic principles. The history of Kazakh independent journalism is closely concerned with the publications of Alash intellectuals. In the eighties of the XIX century, the Russian Empire began active colonization of the Kazakh lands. Alash intelligentsia could resist the colonial policy by using journalism and publicism as an effective tool of the civil society. The articles of Alash activists are striking examples of a democratic approach to solving the land problem. Based on the written works of the Alash publicists and journalists, we can see excellent examples of influence on the public consciousness that generate public opinion. ru
