Abstract:
By employing gas chromatography, the fatty acid contents were
determined in root, stem and leaf of A .pseudalhagi. Composition of fatty
acids varied among organs of A. pseudalhagi. The unsaturation
percentages for each part were 47.78%, 48.17% and 44.12%, respectively.
The dominant fatty acid in leaves and stems was palmitic acid. Content of
palmitic acid in these organs varied from 19.25% to 19.69%. The other
major fatty acids were γ-linolenic acid in the leaves and lignoceric, oleic
acids in the roots. Moreover, polyunsaturated fatty acids were found,
including cis-linoleic, α-linolenic, and eicosapentaenoic acids, the lack of
which leads to various biochemical and physiological malfunctions.
