dc.description.abstract The research relevance is predefined by loneliness being one of the key issues in contemporary philosophy. The research aims to determine the role of loneliness in modern philosophy and the views on the phenomenon. The following methods of theoretical knowledge were used in the research: analysis, synthesis, comparison, abstraction, concretization and generalization. As a result of the research, several conclusions were made, in particular, it was determined what role was played by the theme of loneliness in different periods, such as Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Modernity. The modern classification of loneliness was considered, and it was determined which of its types are positive and which are negative, as well as what the relationship between them is. The objective factors of loneliness prevalence in the world today are identified. The research introduces a new perspective on loneliness in modern philosophy and demonstrates the interrelation between different kinds of loneliness and a person’s spiritual state. ru
