Abstract:
The paper overviews the cooperation of cross-border territories of Kazakhstan and
Uzbekistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union and analyzes the cross-border cooperation since
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took office. It shows examples of the cooperation in different spheres
as an important instrument for attaining the goals of regional integration, which can lead to greater
territorial cohesion and economic growth in Central Asia despite the past border conflicts between
the two countries. The paper examines how cross-border cooperation can be further improved.
